What is Caleb Running on?
Congressional candidate Caleb Norwood developed the Rebuilding America Project with one goal in mind: Uplifting all of working America to the greatest standard of living. The U.S stands at the forefront of prosperity, culture, and innovation across the globe. In a country where skill, grit, and determination are matched by technological development and resource availability in abundance, no one should fear lack of food, water, or shelter. Caleb believes that America should work as hard for its people as its people work for America. A better future is waiting for us. Here is how he plans to get there:
-
To hit the ground running, we will need to utilize our military, which is filled with engineers,
construction workers, doctors, nurses, and many other specialists, and for which we have bases
all around the country. With their expertise, alongside civilian expertise through our federal jobs
guarantee, we can build housing and other infrastructure, treat patients in critical areas, and help
in as many ways necessary to rebuild our country.
-
We are facing a crisis of homelessness and unaffordable housing. Throughout our country, people are living on the streets. Simultaneously, we are dealing with rising rent and home prices. Taking inspiration from Austria's public housing initiatives, we can create a solution to the rampant homelessness ravaging our country, and help our nation's youth secure a place of their own when they’re first starting out. Our public housing must be desirable, a place where anyone would want to live, to help empower our most vulnerable citizens. The inclusion of childcare, parks, playgrounds, and other community features within the public housing spaces will further aid our goal of enriching the lives of our citizens.

It is unfathomable that medical debt is one of the top causes of bankruptcies nationwide. Many of us do not go to the doctor because we know that it could lead to a new bill that may hard to pay. This can have detrimental effects on your overall health, as undiagnosed conditions can worsen. It's time to stop this absurdity and enact Medicare for All.
-
It's time to fund the schools. We need to make all public colleges free and forgive all student loan debt. The world is becoming more complicated, and we need to have a more educated populace to embrace the new world. We would like our seniors to be able to take computer classes so they can navigate this world easier. It's not just higher education that needs a boost but also pre-K to 12th grade. It is time to end public school funding through property taxes but instead through federal taxes so all of the children in our nation can have an adequate education and well-paid teachers.
-
Our nation is too car reliant due to the lobbying of the automotive industry. It is time to end their rule and nationalize bussing, light rail, and establish a nationwide high speed rail network. There are many of us who can’t drive or do not want to drive and we can unleash the economic potential of this country with fast, safe, and low cost travel.
-
The internet was STOLEN from you. In 1996, we paid Telecommunications companies like Verizon and AT&T $200 billion to install fiber nationwide with the High Performance Computing Act. They never did it, they stole this money from us and profited from it . We need to build fiber nationwide so our internet can be cheaper and faster. This is where I want to start what I call Revenge Taxes. These corporations stole our internet so they could profit and give us worse products in exchange. We're going to make sure they wish they never did that. We will get our revenge by taxing the hell out of these corporations and taking the money to build our national fiber network so we can be fully in the 21st century.
-
We need nurses, engineers, computer scientists, tradespeople, construction workers, and much more to rebuild our country. We can utilize the talent we already have. If you have a degree or certification for these skills you will be able to work on R.A.P. We will also need new workers with these skills so we will pay people to go to school or get training in needed fields if they will work on R.A.P where they will get paid a living wage as well.
-
Our workers have been disrespected for too long, we need to pass the PRO Act to protect workers rights. We also need to move into the future so I will want to ensure that every worker in a union who decides to work with RAP will automatically get a 4-day 32 hour work week, with a good wage.
Other Issues
-
ICE is one of the largest departments in the United States with a budget of $170 billion over the next few years. This department is being used to terrorize, spy on, and detain the people of this nation. Of course weapons manufacturers, private prisons, data collection companies will all get large profits from this as well. We need to abolish this rogue institution and use the money to make our lives better.
-
We have all seen the genocide in Gaza on our screens for the last few years, and enough is enough! It’s time to follow the Leahy Laws and have a total arms embargo and sanctions on Israel for committing a genocide and acting with impunity in the Middle East. We will not pay for the destruction of Gaza any longer.
-
Our democracy is under attack and its time to fight back. I will fight for universal voter registration, more ballot boxes and polling stations, and I will fight to make election day a holiday so work will not be a barrier to have your voice heard.
-
The problem with the conversation on illegal immigration is the talk of morality or legality is a smokescreen. The real issue with illegal immigration is employment. Corporations love undocumented migrants because they can pay them less than minimum wage and they always have the threat of calling ICE if an employee wants to stand up for themselves. Amnesty for migrants is needed so they can join us in the fight for workers rights without fear of retribution. This is why I am for Amnesty, so people who have made their lives here can live without fear.

Smedley Butler once said in a speech in 1935 that “War is a racket” and this still rings true to this day. We are told wars are necessary for peace and safety worldwide, but I believe that it is a money making scheme for large corporate defense contractors. Today the pentagon has failed 8 yearly audits, and in 2023 they could not account for 63% of its $3.8 trillion in assets. This unaccounted money is not going to our armed service members, their money is accounted for. This money is being used to line the pockets large corporate defense contractors. With congress raising the defense budget to over $1 trillion this year, I think its time to start using this money on improving our country rather than going to unaccounted for corporate contractors.

The infrastructure in R.A.P will be powered by green energy. Our planet is in crisis due to climate change and we have the technology for green energy. There is no reason to double down on oil other than the profits of large oil corporations. Trump admitted we invaded Venezuela for the Oil, it is time to transition to green energy to fight the corporate greed that is hurting our planet.
